This Municipal Territorial Planning didactic guide is an instrument to support local governments so that the responsible authorities can conduct a participatory process of territorial planning through municipal land use plans.
The Dominican government, together with the United Nations Program, developed some concepts and tools on territorial planning as a means of integrating policies for adaptation to climate change, economic, social and institutional development; and by effect improve the living conditions of the population.
The result was the Didactic Guide for the Formulation of Plans and Instruments of Municipal Territorial Planning. It teaches step by step how territorial dynamics are diagnosed and how territorial planning plans are formulated and managed at the municipal level.
After checking the first draft of the document, I had a kick-off meeting with the stakeholders to talk about the structure of the guide and the vision they had in mind for it. Since the PMOT Guide was structured with stages, the client wanted to have each stage identified by some code or colour to make learning and using the toolbox easier.
Once I gathered all the guidelines, I proceed to make a design proposal to show the client the design direction, such as fonts, colours, page layout and imagery.

My design proposal was to develop an infographic guide to facilitate the assimilation of such a dense subject.
Once I got the ok in terms of design, I proceed to do all the chapters of the guide and then to build the box tool of the  stages. This section had a different approach since it was the most didactic area of the guide. Each stage had its toolbox with a different layout according to its colour theme.
Once the guide was completed and all iterations were done, I proceeded to do some proposals for the front and back cover. I designed three options, and the client provided feedback on them. They wanted something cleaner, but at the same time, they would like to show all the stages that made up the guide. I came with some abstract shapes showing the colours of the stages and made some more options of it.
After the front and back cover was approved, they wanted to create a launch marketing package with posters and brochures. There were ten posters in total—one for each stage and three with summaries of the guide. Then I designed a brochure with an overview of the guide.
